Congress Removes Physician Fee Schedule Cuts

Congress has waived the budget neutrality requirement that would have resulted in a 10% conversion factor cut outlined in the 2021 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule and instead mandated a 3.75% increase.  This change is part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act (CCA) of 2021 legislation released today.  This will offer a much needed relief to providers.  President Trump is expected to sign the legislation.

Other notable provisions in the CCA include:

  • Delay of add-on code G2211 for inherently complex evaluation and management visits until 2024
  • Suspension of the 2% sequestration cut extended to March 31, 2021

There are additional Medicare provisions outlined in the CCA that we encourage providers to review.
