The 2019 CPT Manual includes over 300 code changes for the upcoming year including over 200 new codes, 60 deleted codes and an additional 50 revised codes.  The 2019 update contains substantial changes for skin biopsies, creation of new cardiac monitoring and ultrasound codes, as well as significant revisions to molecular pathology.

The changes will go in to effect January 1, 2019.  In order to avoid costly denials and payment delays, it is time to update your Charge Description Master (CDM), fee schedules and charge tickets.  It is equally important to start educating your providers and staff regarding the changes to ensure compliance, promote charge capture and prevent unnecessary revenue loss and delays in the upcoming year.
